Northern Lights Technique - Birds on a Branch

Hi Friends,
Today's card uses the Northern Lights technique.  I have followed a tutorial by Melissa Banbury on Splitcoast Stampers.  I love how she shaped her card on the edge, so I have cased it.  I also saw this technique at Pat Carr's Stamp Camp but didn't complete the card as I forgot to pick up the swap.  I have to admit that I had a few goes at this technique until I found a finished look that I liked, it was difficult to make it look realistic.  I only did a bit of outlining as I was using a Chalk Pen for the detail and it wasn't as fine as I wanted, but it is what it is....something a bit different.

Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Serene Silhouette's, Tiny Tags, Vintage Labels

Finishing Touches: Chalk Pen, Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon, Linen Thread
Cool Tools: Big Shot, Sizzix Cloudy Day E/Folder, Provo Craft Spellbinders Blossom Nestabilities, Papertrey Ink Tags Die, Sponges, Dble Sided Tape, Dimensionals

Pat Carr's Stamp Camp 2013 - Dressed for the Occasion

Hi there,
This was the card I did as a Workshop Project at the Camp.  It uses a Pop-N-Cut Die Base and the Pop-N-Cut Dress Form Die.  I also used Karen Burniston's template to create a Floating Floor so more Pop Ups could be used.  It is very easy to do and Karen has a Video showing how to make the changes to the Dress Form Base and a template.  We only added two extra pop ups for the workshop but you could add more if you wanted to and I kept the finishing touches Clean and Simple.  I did add another dress form to make it stronger before adding the garments.   Hope you like it!
Tips:
1. I cut 3cm off the top of the Dress Form Die before adding it to the base.
2. You need to cut the slots for the extra pop ups on the floating floor before it is attached.  Make sure that you lay the extra pop ups forward to the front of the card before making the lines of where to cut the slots, otherwise there will be a big gap where you could have attached them.
3. I reinforced the dress form for extra strength before adding the garments and it also gave me the opportunity to stamp it with the Linen Background stamp.
4. To attach the Dress Form Piece fold it closed and line up the extra piece from the template attached to the table in the centre of the card base and stick only the tab at the centre fold first.  Then line up the rest of the floating floor with the sides and front tucked right under at the top front fold and attach.
5. Now to attached the top half, remove the tape backing from the Dress Form piece, line it up on the bottom card base and close the top card base down to attach.  Very important step otherwise your card won't sit properly when opened.

Pat Carr's Stamp Camp October 2013 - Oh Christmas Tree.....

Hi there,
Today's post was created by Andrea Buckland for Pat's Stamp Camp as a shoebox swap.  Andrea originally used the Dictionary Background stamp and her card was lovely, but unfortunately it was left at home so the Linen Background Stamp was substituted. The Cherry Cobbler mat was embossed with the Petals-A-Plenty E/Folder.  The Very Vanilla was stamped with the Christmas tree and then over stamped with the Linen stamp.  The edges were sponged and I did a little sponging around the tree because the green smudged a little as it was still lightly wet.  We then used Cherry Cobbler Glitter as the ornaments on the tree.  The pine nuts and leaves were coloured with markers and then stamped and cut out.  Enjoy!
Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Special Season, Linen BG (R), Come to Bethlehem (R)
Card: Confetti Cream, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke
Ink: Always Artichoke, Baked Brown Sugar, Cherry Cobbler
Markers: Chocolate Chip,
Finishing Touches: Red Stickles
Cool Tools: Big Shot, Sizzix Petals-A-Plenty E/Folder, Sponges, Dble Sided Tape, Dimensionals
Thanks for visiting today.

Merry Monday #82 - Christmas Candy

Mint's Anyone!
Hi Stampers,
This week we are to use Red, Aqua, White and Circles for our Merry Monday Challenge card.  Hmmm... red, aqua, white and circles, I was a bit challenged by Lesley's combination this week but fortunately the old brain worked it's magic. I embossed the white mat with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder and stamped the jar on white card and then on acetate.  The stamp for the mint's is from "S/U's Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set" and were cut smaller than their actual size with the 3/4" Circle Punch.  I added the doily for some extra interest, the twine, satin ribbon and a little tag. On the inside I stamped Merry Christmas from Sassy Salutations and scored twice above the greeting to finish off.

Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Perfectly Preserved, Sweets for the Sweet, Tiny Tags, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Sassy Salutations
Card and Papers: Pool Party, Whisper White, Clear Acetate
Ink: Stazon Black, Pool Party, Real Red
Finishing Touches: Pool Party Twine, Real Red Satin Ribbon, Paper Doily, Pearls
Cool Tools: Big Shot, Sizzix Polka Dot E/Folder, 3/4" Circle Punch, Tag Punch, Sizzix Cannery Set Framelits, Stamp-a-ma-jig, S/U's Cutter and Scoring Tool, Bow Easy, Dble Sided Tape, Sponge, Modern Label Punch, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots
Love to hear from you, thanks for stopping by.

Pat Carr"s Stamp Camp October 2013 - Chalkboard Christmas

Hi Everyone,
Today's card was my Shoebox Swap for the Camp featuring the Chalkboard Technique. I did case this very cute idea from Michelle Suit, thanks for the inspiration Michelle.  I think I have used different punches than Michelle, her Reindeer is larger than mine and she stamped her Chalkboard differently.
Chalkboard Technique
1. I stamped all of the sentiment with Versamark and then used White embossing powder and Heat Set it. Don't forget to use your Embossing Buddy and Stamp-a-ma-jig before stamping and embossing! I did stamp and Heat set each section so I didn't smudge anything.
2. I then shadow stamped it all again using a stamp-a-ma-jig and the Stazon Opaque Cotton White Ink.
3. I used the Stazon Opaque Cotton White to add the smudged chalk on the board and rubbed it back with a tissue if I thought there was to much applied.
4. I used the White Stampin Chalk Marker to apply the border.
5. Each punched Soft Suede piece of the Reindeer was sponged before assembly.

Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Merry Little Christmas,
Card and Papers: Soft Suede, Basic Black, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Season of Style DSP, Red Glimmer Card
Ink: Versamark, Soft Suede, Stazon Opaque Cotton White
Finishing Touches: White Stampin Chalk Marker
Cool Tools: Sponges, Ruler, Tissue, Stamp-a-ma-jig,
Punches:
1 3/4" Circle Punch - Head
1" Circle Punch Hoofs - Nose
3/4" Circle Punch - Ears
3/8" Circle Punch - White of Eyes
1/4" Punch - Pupils and Eye Lids
Snowflake Punch - Antlers
Thanks for popping in today.  Happy Stamping!

Pat Carr"s Stamp Camp Ocotber 2013 - Rainbow Dahlia

Hello Friends,
Today's card is very easy to make and the end results are fabulous.  You stamp the flower three times with Versamark and apply white embossing powder to  the images and heat set them.  When it has cooled apply the colours with sponge daubers graduating the colours from lightest to darkest.  Cut out all the layers with the top two slightly smaller then the first and mount them with Dimensionals to give the flower some definition. The leaves are one layer, coloured the same and cut out. Stamp the sentiment onto the white card and then emboss it with your choice of embossing folder.

Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Regarding Dahlias, Gently Falling, A Dozen Thoughts
Card: Whisper White
Ink: Stazon Black, Versamark, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke
Cool Tools: Embossing Buddy, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Sponges, Sizzix Polka Dot E/Folder, Dble Sided Tape, Dimensionals

Hello Stampers,

Merry Monday #81 - Oh No...Santa's Stuck!

Happy Monday Everyone,
This weeks Merry Monday Challenge is to use Santa on your card.  I made a Tent card for my Santa who is up on the roof stuck half way down the chimney.  LOL.  I stamped him three times cutting out the face and hat and mounted it on dimensionals and changed the chimney colour to match the iron roof which has been crimped. I punched two Decorative Labels to get the mat for the sentiment and cut each one in half.  Just a simple little card, hope you like it, don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's fabulous cards.

Stamps: Eureka Santa, S/U's Great Greetings (R)

Pat Carr's Stamp Camp October 2013 - Wood and Feathers

Hi Friends,
This card by Pat was one of the favourites at the stamp camp featuring the Light Birchwood Technique used as the background and is so easy to do.  We used Early Espresso, Old Olive and Crumb Cake for the colours and a Bone Folder.
1. Using the edge of the Bone Folder and Early Espresso ink, just tap onto the stamp pad to pick up the ink and drag up or down randomly in lines on the card stock.  Keep re-inking the Bone Folder edge and repeat until you have the desired effect.
2. Don't forget to clean the bone folder before changing to another colour. We used Old Olive ink in the same motion as before but also swipe sideways to remove excess ink and lightly smudge the ink on the card stock.
3. Use a dauber to sponge the edges of the card stock with Crumb Cake ink and then use the side edge of the dauber to gently rub some Crumb Cake in between some of the close lines created by the Bone Folder.  This gives the Woodgrain a more aged look.
4. To make the feathers we scored down the centre and folded the card in half cutting out a feather shape. Stamp the feather shapes with Early Espresso ink and S/U's Gorgeous Grunge stamp and sponge around the edges. Then cut fine slits down the sides of each feather, cutting V shapes every so often to add more definition.  After tying the knot we frayed the Burlap trim.
Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Express Yourself - Hostess, Gorgeous Grunge
Card: Confetti White, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky
Ink: Early Espresso, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky
Finishing Touches: 7/16" Flax Burlap Trim
Cool Tools:  Stamp-a-ma-jig, Bone Folder, Sponge, Dble Sided Tape,
Thanks for stopping by today.
