Inkspiration's Sketch Challenge #8

Hello there,

I have been busy today making two, yes two card's for Makeesha's Sketch Challenge #8. Both have a slight variation on the original sketch for the focal point, but I have followed the sketch for the rest of the layers.

For the first card the top layer is raised on dimensionals and Mother Teresa's words are actually on a layer underneath. Unfortunately my camera hasn't picked this up in the photo. I cut the oval shape with the Cuttlebug and Oval Nestabilities and while the Nestabilities shape was still in place I used my Gelly Roll Pen to outline and accentuate the oval shape on the pink card. I used the eyelet border punch to punch the corner on the focal piece of card and do the border on the other layers.

Stamps: Echoes of Kindness, Occasional Greetings, En Francais BG
Card: Pink Pirouette, Basic Grey, Whisper White
Ink: Regal Rose, Versamark, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Pink Pirouette & Cranberry Crisp Markers & Re-Inkers
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Oval Nestabilities, Swiss Dots EB Folder, Sponge, Gelly Roll Pen, Pearls, Ribbon, Silver EP, Stamp a ma jig, Aqua painter, Eyelet Border Punch, Dimensionals

For the second card I used the Colour Chart, looking for some different colour ideas. I thought the colours were a bit weird to start with but they have grown on me, and I like the finished result. I used the Watercolour Technique for the rose and I really love how it turned out. I then made the leaves with my crimper. The rose is raised on Dimensionals.

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Cheer & Wishes, En Francias BG
Card: Bravo Burgundy, Handsome Hunter, Apricot Appeal, Ivory Metallic
Ink: Versamark, Apricot Appeal, Bravo Burgundy, Rose Red, Real Red Re-Inkers for the rose
Accessories: White EP, Crimper, Cuttlebug, Birds & Swirls EB Folder, Scallop Edge Punch, Mat Pack & Piercing Tool, Horizontal Slot Punch, Ribbon, Stamp a ma jig, Aqua Painter & Spray Bottle

Demo Swap - 6 x 6 Scrapbook Page

Hi there,

Finally have something to post. I made this 6 x 6 scrapbook page for the Stamperoo's May Demo Swap. I took the photo of the Beach Huts at Mornington in Victoria while I was on holidays. We don't have them in Western Australia and they can be very expensive to buy and own nowadays.

I wanted to make the bottom of the page look like the waves on the beach, which I think worked out well. Firstly I sponged the vanilla card with Creamy Caramel and then used Itty Bitty Backgrounds, I then made the waves. I used Crystal Effects and then mixed Dazzling Diamonds and Clear embossing powder together, sprinkled it on the crystal effects and then tapped off the excess. Then I intermittently sprinkled white embossing powder to make it look like foam. Tapped the excess off and heat set it with my Heat Tool. Next I stamped the footprints with Creamy Caramel. Then I made the cute little Beach Hut with my punches and crimper.

Stamps:
Itty Bitty Background
Card: Vanilla, Pacific Point, Night of Navy, Real Red, Creamy Caramel, Barely Banana
Ink: Creamy Caramel
Accessories: Crystal Effects, Clear and White embossing powder, Dazzling Diamonds, Pacific Point ribbon, Crimper, Word Window, 1/2" Circle and 1 1/4" Square Punches, Computer for journaling.

Stampin' Up! Convention 2009 - Canberra

Hello!!

This is my summary of the Stampin' Up! Convention I attended on the 1st and 2nd of May in Canberra. All the ladies from Western Australia had a fabulous time. And a number of our group Stamparoo's got to walk accross the stage and receive a hug from Shelli Gardner Co-founder of Stampin' Up! & CEO, Aaron Scott Regional Business Development Manager Australia and Emma Parkin-Wilson New Zealand Country Manager at the Awards Presentation for achieving different milestones.

This is Shelli Gardiner who is the co-founder of Stampin' Up! presenting the Introduction at Convention.

When you arrive on the first morning you are presented with some stamp sets that you use for the Make & Take Session, name badge, catalogue and program for the event and this year they were all in this beautiful satchel bag. We received Circle Circus and Trendy Trees stamp sets. When I complete the Make & Takes I will post them on my blog.

Then it was off to Memento Mall to pick up the goodies on offer to remember the convention. All the items were really nice this year. Some Ladies go crazy and buy heaps of things, but this year I just bought what I could use and a present for a Friend. Featured here are the Rasberry Tart Memo Box and Keychain Calculator, Souvenir Pens, and the Sterling Silver Stampin' Up! Jewelry Beads.

I just had to have this georgeous Manhattan Flower Umbrella from Memento Mall, totally awesome.

This is the totally delightful cafe` that we had breakfast at called Dobinson's, we arrived to be confronted by all these beautiful cakes. Ummmmmmmm......... Breakfast was delicious.

On the Friday night we all went to Sammy's for chinese. The resturant was totally packed when we arrived but within 20 minitues all 27 of us were seated and within quarter of an hour everyone had something on the table to eat. I had the most delicious Lemon Chicken, the best I have ever tasted.

Ngaire, Makeesha and myself. Ngaire presented a WOW presentation and Makeesha demonstrated how to run a Workshop.

I took a photo of the table centre piece, the flowers were lovely on our tables at the Banquet. I though it would be a terrific colour combo for a card. We enjoyed a three course meal of BBQ Asian Pork, Chicken Breast served with Potato Gratin, Mustard Grain Sauce, Asparagus and Cherry Tomato Compote, and dessert was a Citrus Tart.

Here we are all dressed up waiting for Shelli to arrive for dinner. Left to Right myself, my husband Graham, Jenny, Pat, Lynda, Odette and Alison.

We took over the stage for this picture, we are all part of Ngaire's direct downline that attended convention. Ngaire was awarded "Demonstrator of the Year" for the second time in two years and she is a much deserving recipient. Left to Right are Lynda, Louise, Makeesha, myself, Ngaire, Jo, Skip, Rebecca, Pat, Jenny, Terese and Helen.

Lynda, Odette, Makeesha, Ngaire, Skip, Cherita and Helen all received awards. Next years convention will be held in Sydney on the 21st and 22nd May, 2010.

Celebrate '09 Convention Swaps, Canberra

Hi there,

I have been pre occupied trying to organise my Convention swaps. I have made them up so everything is ready to put together. I hope to complete the cards as we travel and so I don't get total stamping withdrawal. LOL. My husband and I are leaving tomorrow and having a couple of weeks holiday in Melbourne before convention in Canberra on the 1st and 2nd May. So I won't be posting for a couple of weeks, and hopefully when I return I will have received my order from the new catalogue with my new stamping toys.

So these are my four swaps. I have used the new In Colours for 2009, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point,Pink Pirouette and Tangerine Tango.

The "Ocean Commotion" card features the Polished Stone technique using glossy paper, Sanded BG stamp and the shell from the set as a another back ground, main image is mounted with dimensionals .
The "A Happy Heart" card is stamped direct to paper and cut out and mounted at different levels. The heart flower is spotlighted.
The "Season of Joy" card is direct to paper also with the back ground created with other stamps from the set, a lot of piercing and a little bit of bling.
The "Rustic Rooster" is a pocket card made from an envelope, designed slightly different to the other previously posted version and has an insert inside.

Hope you like them. See you in Canberra, if you are going to convention.

Inkspiration's Colour Challenge #6

This one is for Makeesha Byl's Inkspirations Colour Challenge #6.
This was a really fun one to make, sort of inside out with just as much detail inside as outside. The stamp set is a Level 3 Hostess Set called Window Dressing and is featured in the new catalogue. I tried to keep it simple, which can be a challenge in itself and I just love the crisp clean design.
Stamps: Window dressing
Card: Whisper White, Bali Breeze DP
Ink: Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie, Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Aqua Painter, Cutting Knife & Mat, Mat pack & Piercing Tool, Rub on's for Sentiment, Word Window Punch, Gelly Roll Pen, the only bling on the window latch.
Happy Stamping

K Werner Colour Challenge #47 & SU's TLC210 Crimped Envelope Pocket Card

I made this card for Kristina's Colour Challenge this week and SU's Technique Lover's Challenge TLC210 Crimped Envelope Pocket Card. As I had just received my new In Colour Stamp Pads from Stampin Up,I was able to use Tangerine Tango which I really love, although I wasn't sure about it when I placed my order. The stamp set is a Level 2 Hostess Set called Rustic Rooster. Both items will feature in the new Stampin Up Idea Book & Catalogue for 2009/2010 available on 1st April, 2009.
The main part of this card is an envelope, decorated and crimped to create a pocket card. You can find the instructions in the Resource Section on Splitcoast Stampers. I rocked and rolled the Tangerine Tango stamp pad on the rooster and then coloured it in with the Chocolate Chip and So Saffron Markers, huffed & puffed to re moisten the stamp and stamped the image. I used my cutter tool to distress the edges of the card and added the two brads. I used my Martha Stewart Daisy punch to do the border on the top and then cut it to fit the top. The main part was stamped with En Francais BG and then randomly stamped with the other two stamps before crimping. I cut the tag with my Cuttlebug die and then stamped for you and the feathery flourish in so Saffron on it. I had a lot of fun making the card and it was very easy to create.

Stamps: En Francais BG, Rustic Rooster
Card: White Envelope, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, So Saffron
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron
Accessories: Crimper, Cutter Tool, Martha Stewart Daisy Punch, Brads, Ribbon, Linen Thread, Cuttlebug & Tag Die, Round Tab Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Piercing Tool

I created this card as a challenge by Laura Fredrickson on her blog Scrapnextra's. The challenge is to case a card that Laura has made. Laura has some Blog Candy on offer to celebrate 300,000 hits on her blog.

I cased this card here. I changed the colours, shape of the main image, added the sentiment circle and buttons instead of pearls, otherwise the layout is the same.
