Virginia's View Challenge #1 - Rev It Up

Hi Friends,
There's a new Challenge in town, called Virginia's View.  Virginia Lu's first challenge is challenging us to do some Water Colouring.  I used Markers on a Stamping Block to do my Water Colouring for the background and inside the card. The technique is a very simple one where you colour the block with your markers and then spritz it quite liberally and place it on your card until all the moisture is soaked up.  I then stamped with Stazon Black. I also stamped a flat white brad with the inside part of the wheel.

Thanks to Dr. John this card was awarded a Top 10 Favourite at Virginia's View Challenge
Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Rev Up The Fun
Card and Papers: Whisper White, Basic Grey, Basic Black, Smokey Slate
Ink: Stazon Black
Markers: Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Smokey Slate, Basic Grey

Cool Tools: Large Clear Stamping Block, Mister, Water, Cutter Tool, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Martha Stewart Screw Punch, Mat Pack, Dble Sided Tape, Dimensionals

Celebrating a Golden Anniversary

Hello Friends,
Today I am featuring two cards that I made for two Benedictine Monks that are Celebrating 50 Years of Ordination.  The Brothers live at New Norcia in the Benedictine Monastery.  I have to say I was a little daunted by this task, didn't quite know were to start, but my Friend who asked for the cards knows the Brothers well after working with them at the Monastery and suggested different elements to make the cards.  The first one represents the Australian Bush as this Brother has spent a lot of his years working with the Aborigines in Outback Australia and of course the Gold cross for 50 years of Ordination.

Stamps: Stamp It - 899E Acacia Tree Large, Stamp World - B586 Grassy Hills
Card: Gold Metallic, Very Vanilla, Shiny Gold Foil
Ink: Stazon Black,
Cool Tools: Stamp-a-ma-jig, Computer and Printer
The second Brother has written a couple of children's books and they feature a Black Cat as the hero of the story and also worked a lot of his life in the Country which inspired the rustic wooden Cross.

Supplies:
Stamps: Stamp It - 899E Acacia Tree Large, Young Blackboy, Stamp World - B586 Grassy Hills,

Stenciled Day 3 - Elegant Bird

Hi Friends,
Today's post is inspired by Day 3 of the On Line Stencilled classes.  I just loved the stencilled techniques by Debby Hughes today.  Debby's stunning card was so elegant and beautiful, just gorgeous I had to give it a go. I cut my own templates using dies in my stash and applied the embossing paste on the bird and the mat.  Both are coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I used some shimmer ink and water on the mat for the background effect, embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder and finished off with some crystals and a pearl. Love how it turned out, I was so inspired by these Stenciled classes you will be seeing a bit more of the techniques we learnt soon.

Supplies:
Stamps: S/U's Perfectly Preserved
Card and Papers: Whisper White, Vellum
Ink: Tim Holtz Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink, Shabby Shutters Distress Ink,
