Jessica's 13th Birthday 2022

Hi everyone,

Our Grand Daughter Jessica is officially a teenager today and celebrating her 13th Birthday. Yayeeeee...! Unfortunately all of her Birthday plans have had to be rescheduled due her contracting Covid last weekend, she is very disappointed and will have to wait till a later date.  Jess will also miss her first day of this year's school camp but her parents intend to take her to the school camp on Tuesday if she is okay.

I stamped the background with the Silver Shimmer ink and then used an old Credit card to add the black lines, finishing it off with some splatters in three different colours.  I die cut the numbers out five times and stacked them for dimension.  The sentiment was heat embossed with silver embossing powder on black card and the sneakers and ear phones were stamped and coloured with a Marker.  I finished off by adding some Wink of Stella for some added bling and detail.

Our oldest Grand Daughter is 17 today and this is the card we gave her.  I layered the name and numbers for extra dimension, heat embossed the Sentiment and added the Stars and Pearls.  For the inside the Wish word was Heat embossed twice and then stamped in black for the dots.

CAS Mix Up Reminder - February 2022 - Faux Cloisonné - Frangipani

Hi Crafty Stampers,

My card today is a reminder for the Mixed Media CAS Mix Up Challenge "Faux Cloisonné" which ends on the 24th February.

I used the Spotlight magazine again and you can see the pictures I used below to create my Frangipani Spray.  I did stamp and cut a few extra flowers which were mounted on Foam Tape to give the flowers some extra dimension.  The heat embossed paper was backed with some white card before fussy cutting and the edges of the cut pieces where coloured with a Gold pen from Stampin' Up.  I added the Sentiment and Heat embossed it with Gold E/Powder, splattered some Gold Delicata Ink and attached the Gold Sequins to finish off my card. The inside of my card was decorated too.

On the 9th of Feb we celebrated our Grand Daughter Jenna's 12th Birthday.  Her parents gave her an Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch and so that is the theme I have used for my card.  I outlined all the circles with the Gelly Roll Pen, it appears some of the lines have smudged a little which I did not notice until I posted the photo on my blog and the rest are not all that clear, looks much better in real life.

CAS Mix Up Challenge - February 2022 - Faux Cloisonné - Face of a Butterfly

Hi there,

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up, I am the Host this month and I would like you to do some Faux Cloisonné, using your glossy Magazines, Advertising Material or Designer Paper. 

I used a Spotlight advertising magazine for my Faux Cloisonné as you can see in the photos below.  Once I had stamped and Heat embossed the embossing powder I backed the paper with some white card to give the pieces more stability.  I then Fussy Cut the images and mounted them over some stenciled diamond shapes, soft sponging and word stamping using foam tape.  The Sentiment is also heat embossed , cut with a label die and mounted on foam.  Hope you will join us for this month's Faux Cloisonné challenge.

CAS Mix Up Challenge - January 2022 - Loose Watercolour - Dog Roses

Hello Everyone,

Today's card is for the CAS Mix Up Loose Watercolouring challenge that I made following Jennifer McGuire's Video.  I coloured the stamp with Distress Inks and stamped a couple of times then I Heat embossed with the Silver Pearl embossing powder.  I then coloured with the Markers and an Aqua Painter.  I finished off with some splatters, pearls and the sentiment.  The Happy was coloured with the Bundled Sage Distress Ink and the Birthday was Heat embossed with the Silver Pearl on Black card.

CAS Mix Up Challenge Reminder - January 2022 - Loose Watercolouring - Nasturtium's

Hello Friends,

It's time for a reminder to let you know that you have until the 24th January to join us for this month's Loose Watercolour Technique.

I went with Jennifer McGuire's technique's and started by using my Misti stamping the Nasturtium stamp with Stazon Black, left the stamp in place and cleaned it.  Then I coloured direct onto the stamp with Distress Ink Markers, spritzed the watercolour card and the stamp and then stamped the image.  I managed to get a little wash of colour from the stamping but the excess water muddied a little so I moped up the extra water, the colour wash was very light.  I then used my Aqua Painter applying watered down ink onto the stamped image.  The Happy die cut was coloured with Mowed Lawn distress ink onto white card and then stacked three times for some dimension.  The Birthday sentiment was White Embossed onto Black card, then I added some Sequins and stamped and coloured a smaller version of the front image to the inside of my card.

CAS Mix Up Challenge - January 2022 - Loose Watercolouring - Mediterranean Moment

Happy New Year!

It's the beginning of a new month and 2022 and that means we have a new challenge at CAS Mix Up.  Jenny is our host for January's Loose Watercolouring Challenge and Karen (Random Reflections) is our Guest Designer.  There are Video's and the Design Teams cards on the Main Blog if you need some inspiration.

I tried Stacey Hutchinson's Loose Watercolour Technique for this card, which turned out better than I thought it would after a few failures with some of the other attempts I tried.  I did find it was better not to over spray with water on the mat before you stamp so you still get the look even if the colour hasn't run much on the card.  I found that once you started painting the colour blended together with much less effort.
