Monthly Calendar Challenge - March 2010

Hello Everyone,
Time for another Monthly Calendar Challenge. The 1st of March is the beginning of Autumn in the southern hemisphere. The leaves are changing colour on the deciduous trees and begin to fall, the paddocks turn green after some much needed rain and the weather is a lot milder.
So the theme for March is Autumn.
My calendar's are very traditionaly Autumn, so I will be very interest to see how you interpret this month's challenge.  For my first calendar I have used one of my cute cat images from Whipper Snapper Designs. I stamped the image three times and coloured them with my markers and aqua painter. The heap of leaves was cut out and raised on dimsensionals for a 3D effect, then a few leaves here and there were cut out and layered on top . I embossed the Provo Craft Leafy Branch down one side of the calendar and coloured it with Stampin' Pastels.  I used the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice Border punch  for a border on the designer paper then applied it with the ribbon and brads. After creating the calendar in Publisher I attached it with dimensionals.
Supplies:
Stamps: Whipper Snapper Designs Fall Fun Kitty
Card and Designer Paper: Very Vanilla, Holiday Treasures DP, Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Stazon Black, Creamy Caramel, More Mustard, Really Rust, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Basic Grey, Pretty In Pink Markers, Stampin' Pastels
Embellishments: Ribbon, Brads
Tools: Mat Pack and Piercing Tool, Martha Stewart Arch Lattice Punch, Dimensionals, Aqua Painter, Cuttlebug, Leafy Branch EB Folder, Computer and Printer
I was only going to do one calendar for March until I saw the cover of the new Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue. I love the colours used so I based this calendar on the cover. It would have been wonderful to have the new products to make this one, but I had to improvise with some retired stamp sets.  I found the quote on the Internet and reproduced it on a tag. I wanted to highlight the A of Autumn so I used my Cuttlebug and Olivia Alphabet, cut two in different colours one lighter than the other and layered them which made the A pop.  Some of the leaves were inked up with Versamark and dusted with clear embossing powder and then heat set.  Others were inked on the versarmark stamp pad and then inked on coloured stamp pads to create a more autumn effect, dusted with embossing powder and heat set.  I used the air brush (spritzer) and markers to dirty the tag and calendar up a bit and the cutter tool and some scissors to make the edges rustic. The background was embossed with Provo Crafts Forest Branches EB Folder. I curled the leaves with a pencil and attached them with dimensionals.
Supplies:
Stamps: Fantastic Foliage (R), Botanicals (R)
Card and Designer Paper:  Ruby Red, More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Ruby Red Markers
Ink: Versamark, Ruby Red, Always Artichoke, Close to Cocoa
Embellishments: Jumbo Button Latte, Chocolate Stitched Ribbon
Tools: Crop-a-dile, Dimensionals, Cutter Tool, Scissors, Pinking Shears, Computer and Printer, Colour Spritzer Tool
I would love you to join in my Monthly Calendar Challenge, so c'mon and have a go and let me know which one you like most.

Just Add Ink Challenge #5 - Office Tidy

Hello friends,
Today's post is for the JAI #5 Challenge, adding Dimension to you project. This project has been sitting on my desk unfinished so it was a good challenge to inspire me to finish if off. I designed it with an easel top, added a calendar as the stopper and divided the draw into four sections.

Edited to add the link for the Desktop Calendar Box Tutorial by Tammy Maxwell found here. I found that I had to change the Box Wrapper scoring line 10 3/4" to 10 1/2" to make the box square (it is the last measurement for that piece of card.  I made the draw insert by measuring the area, adding the amount for the upright piece in the centre and scoring. You need to cut the top piece to the upright section on both sides where you want the sections and then cut the upright section on the other piece only, there being two pieces of card one on top of the other.  If you went to Stampin' Up' regionals they showed how to do it for the little tag box.  Hope these directions makes sense.

Supplies:
Stamps: Click a Bella
Card and Paper:  Real Red, Whisper White, Dashing DP (R)
Ink: Stazon Black, Basic Grey, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Real Red and Certainly Celery Markers, Gelly Roll Pen
Embellishments: Brads, Clips, Flower Brads, Real Red and White Grossgrain Ribbon
Tools: Cuttlebug, Provo Craft Harmony Alphabet, Classic Square Scalloped Rectangle Nestability, Computer and Printer for calendar, Mat Pack and Piercing Tool, Dimensionals, Aqua Painter, Fiskars Cutter and Scoring Tool, Glue
Hope you like it.

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #18 - Cruisin...

Hi there,
I decided to use this boat from Seaworthy for the first time. I don't think it has been used very much by anyone, I could only find a couple of cards that have used the image on Splitcoast. I feel it has worked with the colour challenge although I found I needed to use Very Vanilla to give it a lift between each layer. I used liquid applique on the surf and sprinkled it with hologram sparkle embossing powder.
Supplies:
Stamps: SU's Seaworthy, Vintage Labels
Card and Papers: Brocade Blue, Mellow Moss, Ruby Red, Very Vanilla, Patterns Pack II Hostess Level 1
Ink: Stazon Black, Brocade Blue, Ruby Red, Mellow Moss
Embellishments: Brads
Tools: Cuttlebug, Classic Circles Nestabilities, Photo Corner Punch, Word Window Punch, Mat Pack and Piercing Tool, Liquid Applique, Hologram Sparkle EB Powder, Sponge, Heat Tool, Dimensionals, Aqua Painter

Love is like a Butterfly.............

Good Afternoon,
Todays post is for the ESAD - SU Group challenge this week.  The challenge is to use the Australian Summer Mini Catalogue, page 13 the Pumpkin Pie card as your inspiration.  So this is what I came up with.
I stamped the butterflies and then cut around one of the wings so I could stand it up, layered the card, after punching the eyelet border.  I stamped the sentiment with Versarmark punched two scallop ovals in different colours to offset the sentiment against the eggplant and make it pop. The dark eggplant card behind the cut out wing also makes the butterfly pop.
Supplies:
Stamps:  Butterfly Prints
Card and Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Lavender Lace
Ink: Lavender Lace, Elegant Eggplant, Versermark
Embellishments: White Satin Ribbon
Tools: Scalloped Oval Punch, Cutting Mat and Knife, Eyelet Border Punch, Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots EB Folder, White EP, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Dimensionals
Hope youy like it.
Hugs.
